this game is a fantastic mix of platformer (literally there are platforms) and japanese animation style. some very cool game play sequences that are reminiscent of animation scenes from akira or tekkonkinkreet with a bit of ambient background mood music mixed in. you hold your finger down to charge how high to jump, while estimating the distance to each platform. touch gameplay and menu systems are very well done. def worth the paid download.

an interactive music application where you use leaves and falling stones to create your own unique music compositions. a stone hits a leaf, and the leaf produces a sound. depending on how the stone hits the leaf different sounds are produced. move, rotate and scale leaves in any combination. you can save, load and share the songs with friends. well crafted artwork and sound design.

tilt and touch to bump or shoot a black ball to win levels. great physics but slightly repetitive electro music, if reactive to game play would be cooler.

yes, more clock apps, but, this one is for iPad AND not only has a quite interesting animated presentation of the time, but also has music playback from your itunes library (at the flick of a finger no less). who says you can’t have the time in huge 150 point type as you might from your desktop or laptop screensavers. thanks to daniel the developer for the nice screenshot images!

the proof of how much fun a simple but clever concept with sound and geometrics is: draw lines and watch as Soundrop uses them to create music! I really enjoy this little free masterpiece and there’s a giant list of upcoming features.

the second app in a series of fantastically crafted ones from johan at parasol from finland. a minimalist sound toy, control both visuals and techno-teutonic soundscapes by touching squares on screen in rhythmic sequence.

funny concept and fantastic graphics for this spin on the russian space program and eskimos? using a finger, swipe and throw an eskimo cosmonaut higher and higher into the stratosphere. the scenery changes as you get higher altitude and its more challenging to keep him airborne too. very fun to play and looks good too!

i cant say how awesome this is from personal experience, but, can from recommendations i am getting from friends. the fact that they reference the casio sk-1 as an inspiration is priceless, i owned one myself back in the day and used and abused it to no end. my parents loved me. the synth also has a whopping 40 other instruments, multiple octave keyboard support, effects (LFO!) and of course a sampler to annoy your friends and neighbors.

the app is actually a more simplified view of the lifestyle and design editorial then the website. something to be said for optimized user experiences here for curated content, love it! for the record, the screenshot does not do it justice… where it really sings is in landscape mode (for video play out, slideshows, article detail pages) which is even more impacting to use! congrats to josh for making it happen!
