Digits Calculator

Digits Calculator

Josh Distler

This is one of the coolest calculator apps I have seen. Not only is the typeface in Helvetica, but, you can also change the color palette of the backdrop or foreground, and the aspect ratios from landscape to portrait. Josh at shift-apps did a great job with this app and evokes the simplicity and comfort one needs when crunching sick financial numbers and the tape feature is key!

utility, graphicdesign, typography

Splash Ball

Splash Ball

lisentia.com

tilt and touch to bump or shoot a black ball to win levels. great physics but slightly repetitive electro music, if reactive to game play would be cooler.

Soundrop

Soundrop

develoe.com

cs pong

cs pong

celeritasoft.com

its a classic representation of pong but with the unique ability to play your friends using wifi and bluetooth across the room. this app is free and offers a much more bitmapped design presentation, if you get the paid app, it turns into a festival of colors and updated design and graphics. i dunno if i like the paid version yet, but the free one seems real solid.

Passwords

Passwords

seamonster.co.uk

the description from the app help screen is totally hysterical and i need to quote it... it reads... "select how evil you would like your password to be" ... and... "from a dull angelic password to a demonic super mega-evil password nobody will ever be able to hack" ... fantastic. you basically just change the slider left or right to adjust the complexity of the password, which you can then copy to the clipboard or email to yourself. clever!

click.clock [iPad]

click.clock [iPad]

coffeecoding.com

yes, more clock apps, but, this one is for iPad AND not only has a quite interesting animated presentation of the time, but also has music playback from your itunes library (at the flick of a finger no less). who says you can't have the time in huge 150 point type as you might from your desktop or laptop screensavers. thanks to daniel the developer for the nice screenshot images!

Weather HD

Weather HD

vimov.com

the most immersive and visual weather app i have seen (sorry accuweather folks) with animatics that represent the weather conditions of the cities you have selected (or are located in). its just an amazing thing to look at over and over. i want it to thunder and lightening and snow all the time now!

Utility

Kontrol

Kontrol

parasol.fi

the second app in a series of fantastically crafted ones from johan at parasol from finland. a minimalist sound toy, control both visuals and techno-teutonic soundscapes by touching squares on screen in rhythmic sequence.

Zen Bound 2 [iPad]

Zen Bound 2 [iPad]

zenbound.com

amazing graphics and sound set the atmosphere for this zen inspiring puzzle app. you need to wrap a length of rope around various sized and stylized wooden sculptures. takes full advantage of tilt and multi-touch so you will not only need to use your fingers to wrap and twist the shapes, but also tilt your iPad to solve the puzzles.
